Daily Intake (DI) labelling is a simple way of showing how much energy and nutrients a product contributes to a person’s daily intake. It shows the percentage per serve of the daily intake of energy and nutrients such as protein, fat, saturated fat, carbohydrate, sugars and sodium in the form of thumbnails. The daily intakes are based on an average adult diet of 8,700kJ. Your daily intakes may be higer or lower depending on your energy needs.

For example, the nutrition information panel shows that one serve of product X has 870 kilojoules whereas, % DI labelling shows that consuming 870 kilojoules represents 10% of daily energy needs. Consumers are also able to compare similar products and choose those that best suit their nutrition requirements.
